As a board, we continuously strive to bring keynote speakers who represent the important work that is being done in our masculine of center community. This year we are proud to continue working towards that goal by bringing someone who is changing the face of culture through advocacy and writing. We are proud to announce that Gabby Rivera will be one of our keynote speakers for Butch Voices 2017!
Gabby Rivera is a queer Latinx writer living in Brooklyn, NY. She is currently writing the sold out smash solo “America Chavez” series for Marvel. Her critically acclaimed debut novel Juliet Takes a Breath was called the “dopest LGBTQA YA book ever” by Latina. Put simply by Roxane Gay, it’s “F***ing outstanding.”
Gabby has been featured nationally on SyWire, PBS News Hour and publications such as The New York Times, Vibe Magazine, Refinery29, and The Advocate.
Gabby works as the Youth Programs Manager at a national LGBTQ non-profit education network. She’s represented by New Leaf Literary & Media, Inc. This will be a keynote that you do not want to miss! It will be our second keynote for #BV2017 on Saturday, August 19th and it is open to all registrants. Our Friday Keynote we are featuring Koja Adeyhoa.
You can read (and watch!) more about Gabby’s outstanding America Chavez series for Marvel at The New York Times, Vogue and Refinery29.
