BUTCHVoices 2017 Sunday Sessions #2
Broadway Room — Building Healthy Masculinity in a Toxic Era
This session is an opportunity for honest reflections and skill building on how to push back on the constant pressure to be toxic to others in our community, especially femme identified folks. As an organization we have been wrestling with this question. We will share our challenges and growth as well as give participants the chance to think about their own personal ecology around healthy masculinity. |

Telegraph Room — You Should Start A Queer Clothing Company: Here’s How
Mary Going, founder of the late Saint Harridan, will talk about why fashion is not superficial and why it matters to our journey toward actualization, the components required for a company to truly change fashion, why queer companies and companies owned by POC and/or women often fail and what you can do about it, the importance of intersectionality – and how ethics are not obvious. MacArthur Room — Moving Through The Sex Industry
Let’s face it, with this economy, some of us are doing sex work. The sex industry – whether porn, stripping, camming, escorting – is full of demands on your body and appearance. So how do you make it through? Conform for work and be yourself at home? Market your look as edgy? Find a niche audience where you can be yourself? This discussion of butch and masculine of center sex workers will address what the industry looks like for us, self-care techniques, and opportunities for community. |
