Reprinted from Oakland City Councilperson Rebecca Kaplan’s blog, http://kaplanforoakland.org/2013/08/butchvoices-conference-pop-up-store/:
I am pleased to pass along information about a new ‘pop-up’ consignment shop that sells butch clothing and accessories.
The pop-up is hosted by Show and Tell, a LGBTQI-friendly store at 1300 Clay Street #160 in downtown Oakland’s City Center Plaza. Between August 5th and August 30th, customers can drop off clean, new or gently-used clothes, shoes & accessories – or come to shop – between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. For more details, contact Show & Tell at (510) 463-4964.
A portion of the pop-up’s proceeds will go directly to benefit the BUTCH Voices conference, which is taking place in downtown Oakland from August 15 – 18.
BUTCH Voices, a grassroots organization dedicated to enhancing and sustaining the community of self-identified butch people and their allies, is hosting their third annual national conference at the Oakland Marriott City Center:
BUTCH Voices 3rd Biennial National Conference
August 15 – 18, 2013
Oakland Marriott City Center
1001 Broadway, Oakland
The conference will open on Thursday, August 15 with a welcome reception from 6-9 p.m. at Club 21 – where I’ll be speaking – and also features a gala on the evening of Saturday, August 17.
Finally, make sure you’ve marked your calendar for Oakland Pride on Sunday, September 1st in downtown Oakland.
